Thinking About Selling Willow Empty
PostSubject: Thinking About Selling Willow   Thinking About Selling Willow Icon_minitimeSat 6 Mar - 13:25

I've been giving a lot of thought about selling my sweet Willow. I haven't been able to ride much because of my RA and he's just sitting out in the pasture going to waste. He's too nice a horse to leave languishing. I don't have to sell him so will only consider an HF home. That way I can keep tabs on him and know that he's being cared for.

Willow is about 16 hands and a wide load! He's about 11 years old but that's an estimate because he doesn't have papers. He's a grey paint with markings that show in the summer. He's so laid back and a dream to ride, but can be lazy. He goes both western and english and prefers bitless. His canter needs work but that's because I haven't worked him that much. He clips, jumps, loads and stands for the farrier. He's up to date on everything, including his teeth. He lunges, ties, stalls and pastures but is the dominant horse; bossy but not violent. He has never bucked, reared or bolted with me. He looks at things but the most he does is sidestep a bit, nothing major. He doesn't bite and is very respectful of his people. It takes a while for him to learn to trust new people; I suspect he was abused by someone in his past. He's nervous of strange men but eventually warms up to them. He gets a 1/2 scoop of grain twice a day and a couple flakes of hay so is an easy keeper. Has never been sick or lame, and is barefoot. His previous owner headed cattle on him and she said he did well.

I love this horse and want him to have a forever home. Everyone who meets him loves him too. If interested let me know.

Willow's in Fellsmere, halfway down on the east coast, about 3 hours from Jacksonville. He'd do fine for a 13 year old, depending on what they want to use him for. He wouldn't be a good speed event prospect as I think it would freak him out. Trail riding, showing, etc. he'd be great.

Aww Nance, Im sorry and its a tough decision. I love that boy. I would take him but the part about strange men wouldnt fly around here.
The lady who has Chief on lease is in Lakeland. She was looking for a kid safe horse but he might be too big. Her little one is 8 and was very leary of Chief's size.

I was thinking a slow sorting event. He is stout enough, with pretty thick bone from the pics, and this would not a heavy compition more so for fun until human and horses learn.

I think he'd do well at that. He's pretty game for most everything you'd want to do.

I wish you were on my coast. :/ I do.

He's beautiful, and he's got the sort of personality that just clicks well with me, sounds like. I've always liked him. :)

I've decided to keep him. He'll be moving to NH once we can get some stalls built. Until then he's going to stay with Mitzi. I've had so many changes in my life lately that losing him would be too much to bear.

I am so glad - he and you are partners.. I think you would miss him too much..

But you will need to get a bright colored blanket for him - with his color, you won't be able to find him in the snow.. Laughing

I told Joe on Saturday, Bailey is my summer horse, I can spot the horses by her white hide out in the green - the other two are my winter horses since I can see them against the snow. Laughing

Nancy I did not know you were moving to NH? We are going to miss you here in Florida. I had been wanting to come down and see you but never seem to have the time. I am glad you are keeping Willow. You would miss him so much.
