Big Decision... (Sold) Empty
PostSubject: Big Decision... (Sold)   Big Decision... (Sold) Icon_minitimeWed 10 Mar - 10:30

I'm wanting to trade (or possibly sell) my girl, Lady.

She's an awesome horse. She's approximately 16 years old, and grade. She has her vices, but I haven't found one yet that doesn't. She's had multiple beginners ride her, and even had a 10 year old girl take her on an overnight camping/trail riding trip, and she was awesome. She knows the barrel pattern, and is very fast when asked to be, and has very good brakes. She has the conformation for Halter.

I'm going to be completely and totally honest about everything that's wrong with her because I do NOT want her to go to someone and them be like, "Oh, you never told me about this, I don't think I want her anymore."

Lady can be alfa or at the bottom of the pecking order, and she doesn't care either way. When she is the alfa mare, she's some-what of an instigator. She can be a little iffy about being caught, but food is her best friend. I rarely ever have a problem with catching her in the round pen, and unless she's having an off day, I can catch her in the pasture as well. This is far from where she was when I got her, because back then she would run to the opposite end of the pasture when she saw you walk in. She leads without problems, but for some she may seem a little pushy. She doesn't have a problem with getting in your space, but after a couple corrections she's like, "Ok I get it. I'm sorry." When I got Lady she would pull back EVERY time she was tied. She hasn't pulled back in months, but I'm not saying she won't. When you load her, and she knows she's leaving alone, you have to be SLOW getting her in the trailer. You can't just march right up to it and walk in because she WILL pull back. She does NOT like a roof over her head. For some reason she hates barns, stalls, even open carports (you know, the ones with just polls and a roof?). I believe something happened to her in the past that caused this behavior. She's outside permanently, and doesn't mind a bit.

Lady has never offered to bite, kick, buck, or rear. Not once has she ever spooked while riding, and she's a fantastic trail horse. She can be in the front of the line, middle, or back, and she's fine either way. She's not barn sour. She's especially good if she has other horses riding with her, but she does well alone, too. She's a beautiful mover. I believe she may have previously been used as a dressage horse, but I'm not sure. She stands for the farrier, and loves to be groomed, bathed, and pampered. She required a confident beginner, only because she's a little more fast paced, but not too much. I trust her with anyone. She's a very easy keeper. I feed her Strategy one time a day, free choice hay, and free choice pasture. She has great feet. Trim every 6-8 weeks and she's good to go. She's UTD on all shots and worming.

I would like to trade for a working cow horse, mare or gelding. I also may be interested in colts/studs with good conformation/bloodlines for breeding. May also consider trading her for a stud fee...

If you would like to buy her outright, PM me. I haven't really thought about a price... She's worth much more to me than she probably is in this market...

She's leaving Saturday. I sold her to the city manager of Destin, FL. She'll be kept less than ten miles from the rest of my horses, and I get to go feed her three days a week, for pay! I don't think I could've got a better deal, plus my full asking price. Very Happy

Jitterbug, the only plans I have right now is taking Mecca to see her new boyfriend this weekend. Other than that, still looking around. Very Happy

I'm happy with where Lady is going. She's moving to white picket fences and a cute little stable with a run-in. She'll be pampered, spoiled, and I still get to see her! She's gonna have a little donkey as a pasture mate. His name is Jelly. (Mom was Peanut and dad was Butter, HA!)

Wow, that is a great deal!

I thought the lady we bought Molly from was going to back out until she saw our farm and other horses, so I know how important that is.

I keep trying to convince Jack that Bullitt needs a donkey and then he would have a buddy and he could be separated form the mares. A donkey named Jelly. How cute!
